{"id":8618,"date":"2019-09-25T00:09:52","date_gmt":"2019-09-25T00:09:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.autolexicon.net\/?p=8618"},"modified":"2024-07-03T13:00:41","modified_gmt":"2024-07-03T13:00:41","slug":"svetla-vyska-vozu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.autolexicon.net\/en\/articles\/svetla-vyska-vozu\/","title":{"rendered":"Ride height \/ ground clearance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">Vehicle ground clearance is one of the standardised vehicle data, the so-called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.autolexicon.net\/articles\/zakladni-rozmery-vozidel\/\">basic vehicle dimensions<\/a>, which are defined by the <strong>international standard <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iso.org\/obp\/ui#iso:std:iso:612:ed-1:v1:en\">ISO 612<\/a><\/strong> of 1978.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>Definition:<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\"><strong>Vehicle ground clearance or ride height<\/strong> is the smallest vertical distance of the fixed point of the centre of the vehicle from the base. Another method of determining the ground clearance of a car prescribes the insertion of a circular arc between the inner tire sidewalls and the lowest fixed point of the chassis, see figures. Higher ground clearance means <strong>better ground clearance<\/strong>. On dirt roads, there is simply no risk of the underside of the vehicle colliding with the ground. On the other hand, a <strong>higher centre of gravity degrades the vehicle&#8217;s performance on asphalt<\/strong>. In fact, a car with a higher centre of gravity leans more and has less certain handling characteristics.
